RICH JOY

Director of Photography

RICH JOY

Rich joined Ventana Productions as a Director of Photography in June, 1997. Three week later, he was on assignment twelve miles into the Atlantic Ocean – filming amemorial ceremony for the victims who perished on TWA flight 800 – and he was hooked. At one point his crew had to transfer gear from one bobbing ship to another in the middle of the ocean, and he felt like a miniature player in a giant Donkey Kong game. But it was the significance of the ceremony and the importance to the people involved that really struck him. “What we photograph can really make a difference – bringing viewers to a place they would otherwise never go”. The journey has taken Rich all over the globe as a cinematographer – from Nicaraugua to Haiti to Mexico to all over the U.S.
